Training and development means an educational activities within a company to enhance the knowledge and skills of employees while providing more information and instructions to,  how to perform better to increase the productivity of the organization. The types of trainings are vary from department to department and organization to organization as per the nature of the business and their requirement. 

Training and development activities aim to brush up the employees’ existing skills and impart new knowledge. An effective training and development program is designed based on an analysis of an organization’s training needs to improve employee performance and to develop their personality.

Nowadays, with this rapid change of technology, Training and Development is considered as a core area of HRM. Therefore many organizations have fixed certain amount of training hours per year. By trainings people can learn new information, new practices and refresh their existing knowledge and skills

Identify the Training and Development for Individual or Teams

First of all it is necessary to identify the training needs and gaps of the employees as per the scope and the growth of employees and the overall organization.

Set specific goals and objectives

Once we identify the training needs the next step is to set specific  goal or objective for the training and development.

Select the method of training

Next step is to selection the method of training which suitable as per the requirement. There are so many methods of trainings. Some of them are

  • Instructor led learning
  • Online self-paced training
  • Coaching
  • Collaborative training
  • Video training
As per the company requirement we have to select the most appropriate training method which suits to the employees.

Implement the programs for employees.

After finalizing the training method, the training and development programs has to be executed.

Evaluate the output and performance

Training and development program is incomplete without proper evaluation process.. There should be a strong evaluation process to get the feedback of the trainer and the attendees. Trainer's evaluation should be get from the attendees. Most of the companies use to maintain their own feedback form. It is easy to identify whether the training programs is successful or not.

Employees will quickly pickup the valuable points from the trainings and they’ll share it among the colleagues. It causes for them to offer better service that are more satisfying as a result.

Training and development in HRM are very important for enhancing the performance of the employees and to attract and retain top talents. It gives knowledge and information about their work, trains employees on how to achieve targets with the minimum utilization of resources, and also develops skills to smooth their operations, preserve a positive, accepting workplace culture and motivates them to achieve the goals and objectives of the organization
